The name comes from the Bells family in the 1840's who ran the first pastoral run in the area. The beach was only recognised for surfing 100 years later, however access was a problem for the long boards of the time. Eventually a path was created by keen surfer Joe Sweeney and now Bells Beach holds the annual Rip Curl Pro.

Grab your board and head down to the famous Bells Beach surf.
