Economy Class
Economy Class is a standard fare usually without the extras that other cabin classes are privy too. On some domestic airlines, economy class is the only fare available. Economy Cabins usually include basic features such as fold down tray tables, seats with slight recline, audio entertainment and an in-flight magazine.
Depending on the airline and fare type, food and beverages may be available for purchase or are complimentary as part of your fare. Usually on international flights, meals and beverages are included in the airfare and passengers may also be provided with blankets and pillows on long haul flights. Similarly, video entertainment on long haul international flights and on premium airlines may be complimentary, while other airlines may offer passengers the ability to purchase programs usually via portable or seat-back Video On Demand systems.
International Economy fares typically include a checked baggage allowance while it is common practice for domestic flights or passengers on low cost airlines to pay extra for checked luggage. The average weight of checked baggage for Economy Class fares is 20 to 32 kg. Read more about Economy Class or refer to your airline for specific details.
Premium Economy
Premium Economy is the fare class above Economy and usually includes above average facilities, more extras and priority treatment. Depending on the airline, Premium Economy passengers may be allocated their own cabin, their own seating section, or be seated in Economy but receive added extra benefits. These extras tend to include extra baggage allowance, flexible fares, larger seats and more legroom.
Meals, beverages and entertainment are usually included in the airfare and international airlines may also provide passengers with blankets, pillows and travel kits. It is also common practice for Premium Economy passengers to board and disembarked the aircraft before Economy Class. The average weight of checked baggage for Premium Economy fares is 23 to 32 kg. Targeted towards passengers who are travelling for work, Business Class is designed to aid passengers in continuing their business during the flight. Business Class cabins are usually of a high standard and often include large reclinable seats or flat beds, large seat back screens, in-seat power supply for laptops and personal telephones.
International flights may also offer passengers pillows, blankets, bedding and travel kits depending on the destination and type of seating. Meals and beverages including alcohol are complimentary on Business Class flights, while some airlines offer a choice of gourmet à la carte meals. Most Business Class cabins contain a range of entertainment options via Video On Demand systems. The weight of checked baggage for Business Class fares ranges from 20 to 40 kg.
