Virgin Australia

The new Virgin Australia is an amalgamation of Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue. Virgin Australia flies all around Australia as well as to New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and Thailand. Fare types include Saver (budget), Flexi (fully flexible, food and baggage included), and Premium. The Premium category encompasses both Premium Economy and Business Class fares.

Cabin Classes

Economy

Economy cabins contain luxury leather seats 18 inches in width, with a pitch of 30 inches. Boeing 737 flights offer the live2air entertainment service as an optional purchase. On A330 flights, seat-back entertainment is included and consists of on-demand movies, TV shows and audio channels. Food and drink are available for purchase with the Saver economy fare, while the Flexi fare includes selected food and drinks. Passengers with a Flexi fare are allowed 23kg of checked baggage, while passengers with a Saver fare have the option of paying $12 for 23kg.

Premium Economy

Premium Economy seats are 18 inches wide and have a pitch of 34 inches, providing 4 more inches of leg room than Economy. All Premium Economy seats include either the live2air entertainment system or a handheld ‘DigEplayer’ entertainment unit. Passengers may also select any items they wish from the on board menu designed by Australian chef Luke Mangan. Premium Economy passengers are allowed 69kg of checked baggage and 7kg of cabin baggage.

Business Class

Business Class is offered instead of Premium Economy on all A330 aircraft. Seating is luxurious and spacious, with a generous 62 inch pitch on all seats. Business Class passengers receive a glass of champagne on entry and have unlimited access to the Luke Mangan designed menu and premium Australian wines, as well as personal seat-back entertainment. Passengers also receive priority check-in and complimentary access to the Virgin Australia lounge at selected airports. Business Class allows passengers 69kg of checked baggage and 7kg of cabin baggage.

Check-in Options

Virgin Australia now offers mobile check-in for flights out of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne airports, from 24 hours up until 30 minutes before your departure time. Web check-in is also available from 24 hours up to 60 minutes prior to departure. If checking in at the airport, you can do so either at a kiosk or in person at the check-in counter. Business Class and Premium Economy passengers may check in at the Priority Check-in counter for faster service.

Rewards Program

With Virgin Australia’s rewards program, Velocity, members can collect and spend points on any Virgin Australia Flights. Points can also be earned on accommodation, car hire, online shopping, entertainment, banking, and financial services. You can redeem your points on flights any time, even during busy holiday periods. Velocity offers three levels of membership – Red, Silver and Gold. Silver and Gold members also have access to special privileges such as the Virgin Australia lounge and priority check-in.

Lounges

Virgin Australia has lounges located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney domestic airports. Lounges offer members complimentary food and beverages including a menu designed by Chef Luke Mangan. The lounge also features shower facilities, free wi-fi access, large screen TVs and a range of business facilities including communal work areas and individual work stations.
