Quito Airport (UIO)

Named after a hero of Ecuadorian and Latin American independence, Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) is the principle airport servicing Quito. It is located centrally, only five minutes from the heart of the city, leaving little room to expand. Therefore a second airport is being constructed about 25km from the centre. The completion is slated for November 2011.

Taxi: AU$10 approximately to Mariscal, the main tourist district
Public Transport: There are direct bus connections to central Quito.
