Shannon O'Brien

Global Chief Finance Officer

With a background as a Chartered Accountant for a big four accounting company, and then as a Commercial Manager in coal mining, it is within Shannon's nature to understand things from the ground up. And he know's when he's onto a good thing!

From the outset of his career, Shannon has placed importance on understanding his business in detail. In the coal mining industry, Shannon worked underground as an apprentice coal miner to discover the business inside out. And at Flight Centre Limited, Shannon's thirst for knowledge has seen him go from strength to strength in his career and is just one of the qualities that make him so valuable.

Shannon joined Flight Centre Limited in 2001 as Chief Financial Officer for Retail & Product in Australia and worked with the Retail General Manager to increase retail shop numbers and profits. After being responsible for the financial well being of Flight Centre Limited's Australian retail businesses for two years, Shannon became the General Manger of our Corporate Division. With this promotion Shannon oversaw the merger of many corporate brands including Corporate Traveller and TQ3, positioning the business as the largest corporate travel management service provider in Australasia. In 1995, Shannon was promoted again, this time to CFO of FCL globally.
