Thailand Travel Information

Climate

During Thailand travel, you'll experience warm year round temperatures, with three main seasons. A hot season between March to May with an average temperature of 35°C, a rainy season June to October with an average temperature of 32°C, and a cooler season November to February with an average of 30°C.

Food and Drink

In Thailand, average meal prices range from approximately THB40 -180 (low), THB180-300 (Mid range) and THB300-600 (high). For drinks, expect to pay from approximately THB10 for a small bottle of water, to THB90 for a bottle of Singha beer at a restaurant, and approximately THB70 for a small bottle of local whisky.

Best Buys

Whilst in Thailand, you may want to take advantage of your travel and buy Thai silk in lengths or ready-made clothes which are great value. Other popular items travellers to Thailand often purchase are imitation designer fashion, silver, bronze, nielloware, jewellery, plates, bowls, ornaments, temple bells, wood carvings and antiques. But buyer beware, there are some exquisitely made fakes that fool many travellers.

Events

Songkran, or Thai New Year is a three-day festival of renewal, celebrated in mid-April. Water is a key symbol of this festival, where locals throw buckets of water over each other - all in the name of culture!
