Located in Recoleta, The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes is the country’s premiere art gallery. The building itself was originally constructed as a drainage pumping station in 1870 and was architecturally adapted for its use as a gallery for the official opening in 1933. There are 688 works displayed as part of the permanent collection and over 12,000 sketches and other minor works.
