Built in 1978, The Coconut Palace is the official residence of the Philippine Vice President. The building is made from different types of local hardwood and coconut shells and shaped in an octagon, reportedly the shape of a coconut when served. The roof is shaped like a traditional Filipino hat. The Palace has several guest rooms including the Zamboanga, Bicol, Pangasinan and Pampanga.
While visiting Manila, consider exploring the extensive art collection contained within the Metropolitan Museum of Manila. The museum was established in 1976 to display foreign art but expanded in 1986 to include local artists. Today the museum is the country’s primary gallery boasting permanent and temporary exhibits.
Opened in 1994, the Museo Pambata is a unique children’s interactive museum that offers a great family excursion.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport, 7km from the city centre, is the principle airport for Manila. Flights from Australia to Manila generally take between eight and twelve hours. There are train and bus connections to central Manila.
