This dynamic journey from Delhi to Agra and on to Jaipur visits the icons of northern India and will suit those of an independent nature, wishing to travel with close friends or family. After enjoying the hustle and bustle of the Indian capital, New Delhi, as well as Old Delhi, we visit Agra to experience the incomparable Taj Mahal before travelling by bus to the beautiful 'Pink City' of Jaipur, where we explore the magnificent Amber Fort and the Palace of the Winds. This trip will be escorted in each city by different local city guides who are available from morning to evening. We are met on arrivals and transferred on departures to all our inter-city transport by the city guides, but we will be unescorted for the duration of the journeys themselves.

Old Delhi ha

The tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun is a place of great peace amongst the chaotic streets of Delhi. Commissioned in 1562 AD by Humayun’s wife, the tomb is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered to be one of the first garden tombs in India. The large complex was designed by a Persian architect and also houses the graves of Humayun’s wife, son and other Mughals. Surrounding the tomb is the Char Bagh Garden, a traditional and highly maintained Persian style garden. After exploring the tomb, take a moment to enjoy the quiet and peace of the surrounding gardens and admire this beautiful monument.

Continue your journey through Delhi’s spiritual past and towards the present at Akshardham. This Hindu temple complex highlights the Swaminaryan sect and includes a number of displays on Swaminarayan life. The modern complex also features an IMAX theatre, musical fountain and a manicured garden shaped like a lotus. Take a walk through Akshardham’s central monument to see the building’s intricate carvings up close, enjoy a boat ride down the man made river and explore the tranquil surrounding gardens.

Venture back in time with a visit to the Red Fort in Old Delhi and get a feel for the city’s decadent past. The 17th century red sandstone fort was once the home of the royal family and is one of Delhi’s top tourist sites. Though the building’s ancient objects and marble inlays are long gone, the Red Fort’s imposing size is still awe-inspiring. Around the fort you can wander the bazaars and green manicured gardens or visit the museum found in the Jewel Palace. At night, head to the Red Fort to watch the spectacular light and sound show.

From the Red Fort you can walk to Jama Mazjid, India’s largest mosque. The mosque was completed in 1658 and commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan, the same Emperor responsible for the Red Fort and the Taj Mahal. The mosque can hold around 25, 000 people and includes four towers and two minarets made from sandstone and marble. For a small fee you can take the steep climb to the top of one of these minarets, where the view is a notable highlight.
