Travellers from Canberra will be gifted non-stop flights to Singapore with Singapore Airlines beginning 20 September, 2016.
Plans are currently in place for the route to operate four times per week on a Boeing 777 aircraft. It will continue on to New Zealand's capital city, Wellington, after first landing in Singapore.
Singapore Airlines ceo, Mr Goh Choon Phon is confident the service will appeal to leisure, corporate and government travellers, the three key markets for any successful airline venture out of Canberra.
Virgin Australia has confirmed it will codeshare on the Canberra-Singapore leg, meaning eligible members of Singapore Airlines' KrisFlyer loyalty program will be able to access the Virgin Australia lounge at Canberra Airport.
