Understand Luggage Restrictions
When we travel, most of us take luggage with us. It's usually just our clothes, toiletries and some home comforts for good luck. However, while we might want to take unlimited luggage, unfortunately airlines have luggage restrictions.
When booking your flight, always enquire about the baggage allowance for both checked-in and carry-on luggage. That way you won’t be stung at the airport with unexpected additional baggage fees. The weight of checked-in luggage is usually capped depending on the airline and the class you fly. Additionally, many airlines have strict requirements regarding carry-on luggage.
When packing keep in mind that, in general, sharp objects such as nail scissors, nail files and clippers cannot be taken on the plane in your carry-on luggage; they can however be placed in your check-in baggage. Water and other liquids may also be restricted. Contact your airline in advance for more information regarding restricted and limited articles.
The country you visit may have strict custom restrictions. Again talk with the airline about what you can and can’t take into the destination country and the amount of product you’re entitled to carry.
Many countries impose significant punishment for carrying contraband goods. Always be aware of the local laws. Also while you're waiting for your flight in the airport, remain with your luggage at all times and never leave it unattended.
