Coral Coast - A magical marine wonderland
From the brilliance of The Pinnacles in the late afternoon sun to the awe-inspiring experience of dining with whale sharks, the Coral Coast offers a wealth of icons and experiences.
Shark Bay is Western Australia’s first World Heritage site, is most famous for it's population of tame dolphins that come in to mix with the tourists (and get some food of course) at Monkey Mia. You can also encounter other incredible wildlife in other more secluded places on the peninsula, including turtles, manta rays and dugongs.
The Ningaloo Marine Park is an enthralling marine experience, with untouched coral, an huge populations of fish and other marine species and excellent conditions for diving and snorkelling. Each year, green, loggerhead, hawksbill and flatback turtles come to Ningaloo Reef to breed and it is also one of the few places in the world where you can swim with the world’s largest fish – the whale shark.
Inland is just as exciting as the coast, with carpets of beautiful wildflowers bursting into colour during the wildflower season from July to November. You can also discover the desert landscapes of Nambung National Park, in particular the amazing limestone pillars known as the 'Pinnacles'. One of Western Australia’s most accessible and magnificent national parks is Kalbarri, where you can partake in some amazing trekking through steep gorges carved out of the rugged terrain over millions of years.
