One of the most popular parts of the road is Port Campbell. The coastline around Port Campbell, has been created over millions of years by the wild seas and fierce winds of the southern ocean. These powerful forces have led to the formation of a series of striking rock pillars that rise dramatically from the boiling waters below. Known as the Twelve Apostles, they are among the most spectacular and well recognised natural attractions in the Victoria.

Visitors will also enjoy discovering the maritime history of the Great Ocean Road region. Historic towns including Portland, Warrnambool and Port Fairy offer an insight into seafaring village life, with their old wharf facilities, well preserved colonial buildings and maritime museums.
