Just a 30 minute drive north of Denham on WA's beautiful Coral Coast, Monkey Mia has become internationally recognised as a location to enjoy the company of the oceans most loved creatures - the dolphins. It all started back in the 60's when a local pod of Bottle-nosed dolphins started to frequent the shallow waters of the bay and interact with people, a habit which continues almost 50 years later. The dolphins typically come in to frolic several times a day. An information and education centre has been established to interpret the dolphin behaviour and provide visitors with information about the marine mammals as well as the surrounding areas. A small fee is payable to enter the Monkey Mia reserve.
