Nothing short of an island paradise, Rarotonga is the largest of the Cook Islands with a population of about 14,000 and a circumference of approximately 32 kilometres. Characterised by its white sandy beaches, pristine lagoon, and dense interior vegetation, many visitors are blown away by the island’s picturesque landscape.
Attractions include scuba diving, snorkelling, and horse riding. Visitors can also take scenic boat and air tours, and those looking for something a little more exciting can choose from a number of island hikes to some of the island’s interior landmarks including Te Manga, Rarotonga’s highest peak.

The towns scattered about the island are home to numerous cafés, restaurants, and hotels that offer a range of cuisines, chill-out spots, and local entertainment. Fresh fish and local produce markets are held during the day, and walks along the beach will bring you to charming little juice bars and food stalls.
Rarotonga is ringed by a main road serviced by clockwise and anti-clockwise running buses. The road is also frequented by the mopeds and bicycles that both locals and tourists use as their primary means of transportation. The island’s airport has flights to most other destinations in the Cook Islands archipelago.
