Mamanuca Islands Information

Just off the east coast of Fiji's main island Viti Levu, the Mamanuca Islands are as close to the image of a tropical paradise as most of us will ever get. Nestled among the blue waters of the massive lagoon between the outer-reef and Viti Levu, the 20 odd islands of the Mamanuca group are a picturesque setting for a multitude of water sports including boating, snorkelling and diving and are also where many of Fiji's best surf breaks can be found. Just as popular as all this activity however is the art of relaxation. Reclining beneath coconut palms on warm sandy beaches, gazing across the azure waters is about as good as it gets when it comes to getting away from it all. These islands are so beautiful that they are often chosen as locations for movies in need of a nirvana like setting.

The islands are easily to get to from Nadi's Port Denarau. Day trips around the Mamanuca's are popular and visitors can explore the numberous palm-fringed beaches, snorkel the clear waters and gorge themselves on tropical luncheon banquets. For those who can't bear to leave, many of the Mamanuca islands have resorts, hotels and backpackers of all styles and standards.
