Nadi Information
Although often used as just a gateway to Fiji itself, Nadi is actually quite an interesting place to take a look around as well. It is located in the north west part of Viti Levu, Fiji's largest island. It is the third largest urban centre in Fiji with a diverse population of over 10,000 people from mainly Polynesian, Indian, Melanesian and Europeans backgrounds.
The central lively tourist centre has plenty of shopping, great restaurants and a range of good nightlife, make sure you try a traditional indian curry while you are there. Nadi (pronounced "Nandi") is easy to walk around and explore but there are plenty of taxi's for when the going gets tough. It offers a fascinating insight into life in everyday Fiji, and provides an stark contrast to the traditional villages elsewhere on Viti Levu and the outer islands.

One of the mina attractions of Nadi is the Sri Siva Subramaniya temple, in the south of the city. This Hindu temple has religeous and historical importance, and is one of the largest temples in the southern hemisphere.
Another big attraction is the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, a wonderful tropical garden which will delight the green thumbs amongst us. Backpackers, couples or families will enjoy Nadi, it makes an ideal base and has a heap of accommodation choices. Hotels are well appointed, central and have a full range of facilities and have typically friendly Fijian service.
Overall, Nadi makes an excellent introduction to dynamic Fiji.
