Situated in the North Atlantic Ocean and located between Europe and North America, Iceland is a stunningly beautiful mountainous island nation. Iceland is one of the most volcanically active countries in the world with Hekla, in the south of Iceland, erupting more than 16 times. The country is a bustle of activity around the coastal regions especially in the capital, Reykjavik, where more than half of the population lives. This city combines modern buildings with old fashioned wooden architecture and has forged a reputation for partying and great nightclubs and bars. Iceland offers ample for all visitors from quietly watching whales and birds, to skiing, glacier skidoo and horse riding.
