A tour of the Royal Selangor Pewter Centre begins with the Pewter Gallery that is aimed at educating visitors on the history of Royal Selangor, as well as allow visitors to learn more about the beauty and versatility of pewter. Among the highlights of the Pewter Gallery are a Heritage section – showcasing the history of tin and includes a display of antique pewtersmithing tools and antique pewter, the Founder’s Touchmark ‘Yu He Zu Xi’ and other touchmarks, Precious Metal – an exhibit to demonstrate the recyclability of pewter and the Hall of Finishes – that allows visitors to experience the different pewter textures, highlighting its versatility and beauty.

Following the Pewter Gallery is the Pewtersmithing demonstration, where visitors will get a first-hand view of and even participate in Royal Selangor’s pewter crafting process within a comfortable environment. Visitors can see for themselves how pewter is made and the different phases pewter undergoes to become Royal Selangor creations.
Part of the Pewtersmithing demonstration includes a visit to the School of Hard Knocks at the Royal Selangor Pewter Centre. For $30 per person, visitors are able to enroll themselves into this fun-filled pewtersmithing workshop where an instructor will lead the participants through the simple steps of creating their very own pewter item using traditional tools. Each session lasts 45 minutes and graduates get their very own certificate upon completion of the course.
A visit to the Pewter Centre is only complete when you have been to the Retail Store. Featuring a wide selection of the latest Royal Selangor pewter designs, the store also offers sterling silver by Comyns. Visitors can leisurely browse in their search for gifts or to add to their personal collections.
