Visa & Entry Requirements
For entry into Taiwan, a passport valid for at least six months is required by all nationals. A visa is not required by many nationals for stays of between 30 and 90 days depending on nationality. Australia, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and U.S.A citizens are exempt for 30 days, while citizens of New Zealand, Canada, Japan, the EU and UK are exempt for 90 days. Other national may be exempt for other reasons so check the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for more details.
Other requirements for entry are that you do not have a criminal record, you have a confirmed return or onward ticket (or other documentation for onward travel), and seat reservation for departure.
If your passport is valid for less than six months from the date of entry into Taiwan, you may apply for a landing visa that has a duration of stay of no more than thirty days. You also have the option of applying for and receiving a Taiwan visa prior to arrival in Taiwan. If you enter on the visa waiver program (30 day stay, no extensions), you will not be allowed to extend your stay or change your visa status.
If you arrive in Taiwan with a valid passport and valid Taiwan visa, you may be admitted for up to 90 days even if your passport is valid for less than six months. If you apply for a landing visa upon arrival, you will be admitted for 30 days or up to the date your passport expires, whichever comes first.
It is recommended to check entry requirements before you travel.
