Koh Yao Information
Welcome to the definition of true relaxation. Well away from the crowds, Koh Yao offers you the chance to step back in time with a rural Thailand experience. The two islands of Koh Yao are quiet paradises located between Phuket and the Krabi mainland, in the middle of stunning Phang Nga Bay. Koh Yao Yai is the larger of the two islands, however is not quite ready to support tourism.
Koh Yao Noi, on the other hand, is ready and waiting for you!
While original island traditions are firmly in place and there is an absence of many modern facilities, there is still plenty to keep you occupied on Koh Yao Noi. Go kayaking into hidden caves or across a bay to other small islands, hike or scale cliff faces and wander down rubber tree-lined villages, admiring buildings dripping with flower-filled baskets. Take a mountain bike and ride through the
natural jungle, rice paddies and fishing villages. Go swimming, snorkelling and diving and discover red and blue corals and an abundance of marine life.
Resorts here are well-designed and classy and there is a small village with banking facilities and few eateries. This is a place to enjoy the serenity – traffic is minimal and there’s not a lot in the way of nightlife other than a few small bars and the nightlife at your resort. There is a laid-back feeling on the island which is perfect for spending the day lounging on a deck chair or a hammock. With its basic simplicity, Koh Yao truly is a great Thailand escape.
