Las Vegas Information

Located in the arid south of Nevada, not far from the Utah, Arizona and California borders Las Vegas is an oasis of opulence in the surrounding desert and scrubland. Ironically the first non-Native Americans to settle the area were Mormon missionaries who built a church here in 1855 about halfway between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. In the intervening 150 or so years there have been many changes which have transformed the location of that first mission into a vast region of casinos, hotels and adult entertainment often referred to as 'Sin City.'

When most people think of Las Vegas they picture 'The Strip' - the 7km (4 mile) long section of Las Vegas Boulevard that runs through the middle of Las Vegas and has many of the world largest and most lavish hotels and casinos. Here you'll find replications of the world's great cityscapes and landmarks including the Sphinx and Great Pyramid of Egypt, the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty and even the Canals of Venice. If it can be imagined in the mind of man it can be built in Las Vegas!

Some might say that the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas are just a veneer but if so that veneer goes very deep. The city is designed to be a playground for grown-ups and the lights and music and spruikers are all there to tempt us into the plush, air conditioned interiors of the countless casinos that keep the city's economy booming. Once inside you'll want for nothing as there are bars, restaurants, cafes and shops all conveniently located close to the gaming floor so guests need to spend as little time as possible away from the card tables and roulette wheels. And if you win big Las Vegas is there to help you spend your winnings on lavish penthouse suites and astronomically priced champagne. But if you don't win big, don't worry - what you haven't won in dollars you will have won in memories.

Las Vegas can be like a rare and expensive bottle of wine - in years to come you'll never remember the price tag but you'll always remember that glorious taste. And the flavours of Las Vegas are excitement, energy and passion providing a cocktail whose taste will remain with you for ever.
