Attractions near The Fairmont Acapulco Princess

Ancient ruins at Palma Sola

The Acapulco region isn't particularly well known for its ruins, but a few kilometres north of the old town you can find the Palma Sola Archaeological Zone. Palma Sola is a historic site that dates back around 20,000 years and is home to culturally significant ritual caves, a number of paintings and hand carvings. Each carving is explained by detailed descriptions in both English and Spanish, so you leave with valuable information.

It's important to wear walking shoes, because the further up the mountain you go, the more interesting the artwork becomes. Those who trek high are rewarded with spectacular views over Acapulco and the surrounding countryside.

The beautiful Isla La Roqueta

Just off the coast of Acapulco is a picture-perfect place to take a little holiday away from your holiday: Isla La Roqueta. The area is renowned for its clear waters and colourful tropical fish, so taking a glass-bottomed boat over to the island is very enjoyable.

On the island itself, you can discover a number of quiet secluded beaches where it's easy to laze the day away, while the turquoise waters offer excellent swimming and snorkelling spots. There are a range of restaurants and bars on La Roqueta, and if you stay until the evening, you may be treated to a traditional Aztec dance performance.
