Alice Springs Desert Park

No matter your age, you will love meandering through the paths of the extraordinary Alice Springs Desert Park as you learn about the local flora, fauna and Indigenous culture of the ancient land. Don’t miss the free-flying birds of prey show – you’ll marvel at their survival skills. The enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides bring the Desert Park to life, and the centre embraces the legends and history of the Arrernte people.

Desert Park plays a vital role in local wildlife research and conservation, and the natural enclosures in the Nocturnal House feature some of the area’s endangered species. This immersive experience is sure to be one of the highlights of your stay.

Outback camel ride

What better way to explore the Red Centre than on the back of a camel. These 'ships of the desert' amble with ease through the spectacular landscape surrounding Alice Springs, and a sunset ride overlooking the majestic MacDonnell Ranges is sure to be memorable.

Pyndan Camel Tracks offers a one-hour camel ride at sunset or a three-hour morning ride venturing further afield. The camels are well-trained and friendly, each with their own personality. The calm and gentle Pixie, for example, is known to fancy a smooch, while shy Saleh follows the cameleers around like a faithful pet. Pyndan camels happily carry people of all ages, but children under three must sit on a parent’s lap.
