The famous wartime girl
Less than two kilometres from the hotel is the house of Jewish girl, Anne Frank, used by her and her family to hide from the Nazis during World War II. The house was turned into a museum years after Anne Frank’s diary was found and her story became a world-wide classic.
Today you can visit the museum and see the exact room that Anne and her family hid in, the bookcase that concealed the entrance and Anne Frank’s original diary. There are also interactive and multimedia exhibits focused on human rights and what happens when they’re taken away.
Home of Heineken
If you’re interested in discovering the history and brewing process of Heineken, one of the world’s most popular beers, then the Heineken Experience is the place you need to go. Easily accessed via tram or on foot, the Heineken Experience is part museum, part interactive entertainment and all about beer, from how to make it to how it should be properly tasted.
Make sure you visit the historic brew room and learn the art of churning, taste a glass of Heineken using the crucial steps, follow the journey of beer from brewery to shelf on the Brew You ride, and take to the stage as a DJ.
