Attractions near the Hilton Amsterdam

Amsterdam culture

The hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from Amsterdam’s old city centre, where you can be immersed in the city’s rich history and culture. Step into the Van Gogh Museum for a detailed look at the world-famous artist’s life and work, or wander through Vondelpark to experience the exquisite natural parkland that’s been around for over 150 years.

There are so many ways to get around the city and the picturesque surrounds of the canals and buildings make walking its own attraction. For a different style of transport, hire a bike and use the designated bike pathways to easily make your way to each area.

Cafes, restaurants and coffee shops

Scattered around the city is an array of traditional cafes and restaurants, serving delicious food and drinks. You can’t go past the small but flavoursome poffertjes (fluffy pancakes) covered in powdered sugar or the deep-fried ball of beef, butter, herbs and spices called bitterballen. Wash it all down with a glass of Duvel beer.

Remember to not get confused when picking between a cafe and a coffee shop. Cafes serve traditional items such as snacks and hot drinks, while coffee shops serve that little plant that’s made Amsterdam so famous. Just stepping inside one of the coffee shops is a culturally rich experience.
