Pack your bags with goodies

Take a break from all the ancient wonders of Athens and hit up the shops of Ermou Street, the main shopping street in the city. Here you can find well-known high-street brand names selling quality items for a reduced price.

If you’re on a budget, the 1.5-kilometre-long street is the perfect place to wander, window shop and people watch from some of the many cafes along the road. Just a stone’s throw from the hotel, Ermou Street starts near Syntagma Square, past Monstiraki Square and continues through the city all the way to Thiseio.

Stoa of Attalos

It’s a mesmerising experience to walk in the footsteps of ancient civilisations through the grand Stoa of Attalos. Located in Athens’ historic Agora, the elaborate Stoa served as an integral part of social and cultural Athens throughout the centuries from its creation around 150 BC.

Meticulously rebuilt from ruins to original specifications in the 1950s, the huge marble and limestone building is split across two floors, with 45 striking columns running along the open lower facade. Today, the Stoa of Attalos houses the Museum of the Ancient Agora, displaying fascinating treasures found in excavations of the Agora including sculptures, coins, and clay and brass objects, some of which date back to the 7th Century BC.
