Shop 'til you sleep

One of the great pastimes for people visiting Bangkok is shopping and there are few better places in Bangkok to do so than at Siam Square. Just one stop away from the Asia Hotel on the BTS Skytrain, this central Bangkok area is lined with more shops, malls, markets and department stores than you can imagine. Home to both international brands and independent traders alike, the MBK shopping centre is a popular starting point for many tourists thanks to its wide range of cheap clothes and electronics. A few metres away is the city's most exclusive mall, Siam Paragon.

No doubt you're going to get hungry carrying around all of those shopping bags but rest assured that there are almost as many places to eat as there are to shop in the area. Once refuelled it's on to Siam Center, Siam Discovery, and Thailand's biggest mall, Central World. You might need to keep an eye out for an extra suitcase!

Change the pace

Widely recognised as the birthplace of Thai massage, Wat Pho is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. The temple complex itself is one of the oldest and largest in Bangkok and is where you will find countless images and statues of buddha - yes that includes a 15 metre high reclining one!

The Thai massage school is another one of Wat Pho's umissable attractions, where countless students attend to learn the techniques required to master the various types of massage.
