Contemporary art in an ancient city

Bangkok is a city of old and new, of history and modern technology, of business and culture. When in town, a visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) is highly recommended. The museum is a visual demonstration of this rich culture that has both deep-set traditions and a forward-thinking future. Here, traditions mix with emerging talent and creativity, resulting in some innovative and thought-provoking exhibitions. The museum showcases works that document Thailand’s long, dramatic history as well as artworks by local contemporary artists.

Sunset at Dawn

Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn, is unlike any other temple in Bangkok. Pay a visit to witness firsthand the awe-inspiring temple of tall towers that reflect beautifully in the sunlight. Located on the western bank of the Chao Phraya River, the 70-metre spire is a staple on the city skyline, and the steep climb to the top rewards with spectacular views of the city.

Contrary to its name, the temple is most stunning at sunset when the colourful porcelain pieces that cover it are illuminated by the fading sun. Still, the quietest and most peaceful time to visit is early in the morning.
