Make a break for the Barossa and indulge your senses in the landscapes, lauded wineries and luxurious cottage-style lodgings an hour from Adelaide.
Angaston, Tanunda or Lyndoch?
As you head inland from Adelaide, where will the Sturt Highway take you? The so-called "crown of the Barossa" is Angaston, home to the iconic Barossa Farmers Market at the eastern end of the wine-growing region. A handful of 4-star countrified stays can be found around Angaston, from English-esque homesteads to historic cottages.
If it's Tanunda, the Barossa's heart, that takes your fancy, your choices extend from the modern Barossa Valley Apartments in the centre of town to the awarded Novotel Barossa Valley Resort. Just south of Tanunda, Lyndoch is the first Barossa township for visitors coming through Gawler and a great place to settle in for the evening too.
Bed and breakfast for two
The quintessential Barossa Valley accommodation is arguably the humble bed and breakfast. After all, who doesn't love a home-style feed after a good night's sleep against the natural orchestra of the Australian bush?
Feel right at home at the Belle Escapes, located in both northern and southern Barossa, at one of their cosy cottages with continental breakfast supplies included. Delight in a stay at Country Pleasures Bed and Breakfast where the finest regional produce is showcased during the most important meal of the day, or choose from dozens more B&Bs, homesteads and country houses across the Barossa.
A banquet of luxury in the Barossa
The Louise, located halfway between Tanunda and Nurioopta in Marananga, offers grand indulgence and relaxation at their exclusive suites where you can enjoy the complete chocolate-and-champagne experience.
Set among the vineyards the Barossa is famous for, the Barossa Shiraz Estate in Lyndoch offers a choice of four private cottage retreats – the Residence, Willows, Vines and Loft – ranging from one to three bedrooms, with everything needed for a self-catered breakfast and a toasty log fire in the winter months.
