Play golf at Caye Chapel
The majority of residents at Caye Chapel Golf Resort are avid golfers. With a championship standard course – the only one in Belize – set on a private island, what's not to love about this luxury accommodation?
The par-72 course has four par-five holes – enough to challenge the most dedicated of golfers. The views of palm trees on one side and the turquoise Caribbean Sea on the other often lengthen the time of a round because of the frequent nature-watching and photo taking. Because you're staying on a private island, the course often seems like it's been opened just for you – a feeling you're unlikely to get on many other courses.
Dive at Turneffe Reef
The Caye Chapel Golf Resort is ideally located for embarking on a dive tour of the stunning Turneffe Reef. Although the Lighthouse Reef Atoll (around an hour away by boat) is the more popular dive site – mainly thanks to the natural wonder of the Great Blue Hole – Turneffe has its fair share of intrigue to keep you interested.
The Elbow is one of the area's most highly rated dive sites, with sharp drops, dramatic reef formations sporting eagle rays, and the occasional harmless shark. All around Turneffe you're likely to see tropical fish and turtles as well as the occasional manatee or dolphin. If you're not qualified to go diving and don't have the time to take on a full course, there are plenty of areas of the reef where it's possible to snorkel instead.
