The Great Blue Hole
The coasts of Belize are covered with beautiful reefs that attract snorkelers and divers from all over the world. One of the biggest attractions is the Great Blue Hole. Cited as one of the world's greatest natural wonders, the Great Blue Hole is a large sinkhole 300 metres across and 124 metres deep.
The crystal-clear waters are ideal for diving – many fish and sea life are spotted regularly, including midnight parrotfish, Caribbean reef sharks and green turtles. In 2012, the Discovery Channel ranked the Great Blue Hole as the most amazing place on Earth.
A private island
Many of Belize's attractions are found on or in the water. Bannister Island, a secluded and private piece of land, is no exception. A trip to the island is mainly about finding peace and quiet, and a tranquil beach on a private island can give you just that.
By the beach you can find a bar and restaurant serving typical American fare, so you can have a drink and a meal while you laze about. If a quiet day on the beach doesn't sound like your thing, you can hire a kayak, go snorkelling or join a dolphin-watching cruise.
