Newly redeveloped Cardiff Bay
Once considered a boring area with no touristic value, Cardiff’s docklands have now been transformed into an entertainment and cultural hotspot. There are so many attractions to visit including the Wales Millennium Centre, Doctor Who Experience and the World of Boats. You can also go sailing and enjoy other water sports, or duck into one of the lively restaurants and bars.
As it’s a fairly new area, there aren’t many hotels to choose from, but the ones available are of the highest quality. The five-star St David’s Hotel & Spa is located right on the water with private balconies and spa facilities.
A city centre that feels completely different
Cardiff isn’t like any typical city. The amount of history that exists within its limits is remarkable, but even more refreshing is the fact that a lot of this history still remains right in the heart of the city. When you stay in Cardiff, you can still enjoy modern entertainment, but you also have convenient access to historic attractions such as Cardiff Castle, the National Museum and a plethora of parks.
The city centre also boasts the largest range of accommodation in Cardiff. Choose from about 29 hotels, hostels and guest houses, which each come with their own perks, from the most luxurious settings, to the budget-traveller’s dream.
Escape to the English country
Quite like the film The Holiday, sometimes it’s a much-needed relief to trade in your typical surrounds for a completely new environment. If you live in or close to a big city, why not spend your holiday out in the quaint English countryside, surrounded by picturesque nature and friendly wildlife.
Stay at the Llanerch Vineyard in either homely cottages or the affordable B&B, and revel in classic English woodland and exquisite wine tastings. The Miskin Manor Country Hotel is fit for Mr Darcy, featuring a sprawling lawn and garden, and 43 unique rooms that practically exude elegance.
