Be amused in Tivoli Gardens
Located close to the hotel, in the heart of the city, Tivoli Gardens is Copenhagen’s famous amusement park. Opened in 1843, it’s the second-oldest park of its kind in the world and offers a huge variety of rides, shows and attractions within beautifully landscaped surrounds. The grounds are lovingly tended with flowerbeds and fountains dotted throughout, giving this fine amusement park its iconic name.
Besides smelling the roses, you can test your bravery on the park’s classic wooden roller coaster, which dates back to 1914 and offers a gentle ride compared to the 2004 hi-tech addition, Daemonen, which has four inversions and isn't for the faint-hearted.
Enjoy the regal side of Copenhagen
If you're seeking a more sedate pace and would prefer spending time in a garden without the noise and flashing lights, head to Frederiksberg Park, located just a few minutes’ drive west of the hotel.
Here you can find the grand Frederiksberg Palace, towering on top of a hill and surrounded by vast gardens. Take a wander through romantic 18th-Century gardens, home to lakes, canals and a little waterfall. If you’re feeling peckish, The Chinese Pavilion serves tea and light refreshments. You may prefer to see how the royals dined by taking a tour through the palace. Although it’s now a military academy, guided tours run a few times a day for 10 months of the year.
