Shop up a storm at Deira
Cross the road from your hotel and immerse yourself in one of the world’s biggest shopping centres. Deira Shopping Mall was the first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates. It’s famous for kick-starting the world-class Dubai retail industry we know today. Every year this complex draws more than 20 million visitors.
Upon entering this retail mecca you’ll be presented with a complimentary bottle of water. You’ll need it for the 1.2 million square feet of shopping, dining and entertainment that’s spread over two levels. Explore more than 350 designer boutiques, fashion stores, homewares traders, top-end cosmetics stores, premium electronics retailers and dedicated jewellers. When it’s time for a break, recharge at one of 60 cosmopolitan restaurants and cafes, or kick back in the multiplex cinema.
Discover Dubai Museum
Take a 10-minute drive to explore Dubai Museum. It’s located inside Al Fahidi Fort, which dates back to 1787 and is the oldest existing building in Dubai. The museum houses a collection of antiques and artefacts. Some recent discoveries are as old as 3,000 BC.
Wander through living history and learn the stories of Dubai’s past. You’ll see replicas of early housing and living standards, authentic fishing boats, and displays of traditional clothing and jewellery. Perhaps most fascinating is the archaeology section, which explores the local settlements that date back as far as 1,000 BC.
Make sure you also visit the Grand Mosque, located directly opposite the museum.
