Attractions near the Atlantic Palace

One of the world's most spectacular cathedrals

The large bronze-coloured brick dome of the Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral is an iconic Florentine sight, jutting out over the city skyline, right in the heart of the historic centre of Florence. The spectacular, intricately decorated white, pink and green facade of the cathedral overlooks the Piazza dell Duomo, and is one of Florence's most memorable sights.

So magnificent is this cathedral, it took almost two centuries to complete and the original building dates back to 1296. Climb to the top of the Brunellschi-designed dome tower for superb views over the surrounding historic centre and city beyond.

Discover Michelangelo

In this Renaissance city, the undisputed king of the Renaissance, Michelangelo, is highly celebrated with many of his famous works of art featured throughout Florence. Brave the queues at the Galleria dell'Academia to see the world-famous statue, his original David, and work your way around the myriad of great masters in the Uffizi Gallery to lay your eyes upon his masterpiece Tondo Doni, painted in 1504.

The Museo del Bargello is the place to head to view some of Michelangelo's best early works including the well-known sculptures of Brutus, Madonna and Child, and the Apollo-David.
