Discover one of Florida’s historic landmarks

Allow a few hours to visit Bonnet House Museum and Gardens, located nearby on North Birch Road. Dating back to 1920, this grand Florida house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 and declared an historic landmark in 2002.

Take some time to explore the property’s lush garden surrounds, complete with native flora and fauna. Discover five distinct ecosystems including the Atlantic Ocean beach and primary dune, a fresh water slough, a secondary dune, mangrove wetlands and a maritime forest. Alongside the natural vegetation there are developed areas such as a desert garden, hibiscus garden and main courtyard with tropical vegetation, not to mention one of the largest orchid collections in the Southeast United States.

Beach bliss awaits

If you can tear yourself away from the tropical three-pool oasis at your resort, head straight for the Atlantic Ocean just up the road where more than 11 kilometres of picture-perfect beaches await. Fort Lauderdale’s coastline is world-famous, with the main beach featuring an award-winning wave-wall and signature beachfront promenade that’s dotted with a variety of shops, restaurants, cafés and entertainment venues.

Relax with a stroll, sun yourself on the golden sand, swim in one of the beach areas protected by Ocean Rescue for peace of mind, and grab a refreshment. Or step things up and try out the action-packed activities on offer including jet-skiing, boating, wind surfing, snorkelling, rollerblading and volleyball.
