The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall
Right across the street from the hotel stands the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, which has only been showcasing live performers since 1990, making it a particularly modern concert venue by UK standards. Although the Glasgow Royal is best known for its classical concerts, it also hosts musical theatre, ballet, rock, pop and comedy shows among others.
There are five bars located on site for grabbing a drink, a restaurant, cafe and a gift shop. The venue has set the stage for iconic performers and public figures including Nelson Mandela, Bob Hope and Art Garfunkel. Keep an eye out for what's showing during your visit.
The country's iconic sport
Located a little south of the hotel and easily reached via public transport, the Scottish Football Museum is the official collection of Scottish football memorabilia, artefacts and history. Contained within the Hampden Park grounds, Scotland's national football stadium, the Museum boasts over 2,000 objects including the world's oldest match ticket and national trophy.
After visiting the Museum, you may want to take a stadium tour, which allows you to experience Hampden as a player would, entering the dressing sheds and stepping out onto the field. Make sure you duck into the Hall of Fame, where you can see Scottish players and coaches recognised for their great achievements in the sport.
