Attractions near the Delta Barrington

Be amazed at the Discovery Centre

Found in Halifax's downtown area, Discovery Centre is the state's only interactive science destination. As well as travelling exhibitions, the attraction has a number of permanent features that will keep you returning time and time again.

The Bubble Room is a sure hit with younger children. With features such as the Bubble Wall, the Bubble Tub and the Body Bubble, it's easy to see why. While playing and popping, children are taught about the science behind bubbles.

Slightly older kids – perhaps those with architecture aspirations – will enjoy the Lindsay Building Centre. It’s filled with thousands of Lego and Duplo bricks, as well as a number of building stations, where they can play for hours.

Worship at St Mary's Cathedral Basilica

St Mary's Cathedral became a basilica in 1950 with Pope Pius XII's blessing, but has been around in some form since the 1780s. Inside the stunning basilica you’ll find a pipe organ, said to be one of the best sounding in Canada, and a set of 11 bells weighing between 90 and 544 kilograms.

The original wooden structure was replaced by stone in the 1820s. Since then it has been added to and expanded a number of times. The Gothic Revival look was added in 1869. At the same time, the tallest free-standing spire in North America was constructed. Both are built completely from granite.
