See Tasmania from Wellington Park

Connecting the city to the bush is Wellington Park – home to sweeping views from the top of Mount Wellington. You'll love trekking up Pinnacle Road to the mountain’s peak, because on a clear day you can see as far as the Southwest National Park across the Tasman Sea.

Choose from a variety of scenic bushwalks through the park’s historic forests or climb into the saddle and traverse the range by horse. Test your skill level on bike tracks ranging from family-friendly to cross-country, and for the adventurous types there’s even four-wheel driving tracks and rock climbing.

Wine tasting at Coal Valley Vineyard

Take a short 15-minute drive out to the lush region of Coal River Valley, home to one of Tasmania’s premier establishments, the Coal Valley Vineyard. Family owned, this vineyard prides itself on the quality, not quantity, of its cool-climate drops.

Sit down on the Coterie Wine Bar terrace and enjoy wine tastings, delicious cheese plates, vineyard platters and a relaxed view of the surrounding valley. Riesling, chardonnay, sparkling, pinot noir and cabernet merlot are presented by experts Amy Russell and Sheralee Davies. With a variety of Tasmanian craft beers and ciders on offer and live music for accompaniment, you could easily indulge in more than a day’s stay.
