The world's fourth holiest Islamic site
Get off the beaten track and visit this holy Islamic shrine, which commemorates the place where Hz Eyyubu El-Ensari fell during the First Arab Siege of Constantinople in 670 AD. The standard bearer of the prophet Mohammed, Hz Eyyubu El-Ensari was a highly revered Islamic figure and his tomb is a popular pilgrimage destination for many Muslims.
As it's the fourth-most holy Islamic site after Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem, visitors to Eyup Sultan Mosque must obey traditional proprieties. Women are allowed to visit the mosque providing they are properly covered. It's located along the waterfront in the district of Eyup on the European side of the city and you can catch the ferry to see more of Istanbul’s dazzling sights along the way.
