Outback dining

No stay at Kings Canyon Resort is complete until you’ve experienced the romantic six-course Under a Desert Moon dinner, held around a campfire in a natural bush setting. The focus is on fresh local produce (don’t be surprised if kangaroo is on the menu) and a glass of sparkling wine sets the scene for the sumptuous delights to come. The only sounds accompanying your candlelit dinner under the stars will be soft music and the breeze through the desert oak trees nearby.

Families with children will be just as happy with a drink at the Thirsty Dingo Bar followed by a meal at the Desert Oaks Bistro. Tasty pizza is also available whenever hunger strikes.

Explore Kings Canyon

A guided walk and climb around the Kings Canyon Rim is the best way to learn about the culture and wildlife of this spectacular ancient land. The cliffs tower 300 metres over the Garden of Eden and Kings Creek at the Canyon’s base. The walk is recommended for people with a good level of fitness.

A 500-step climb kicks off The Rim Walk, a 3.5-hour trek with amazing views of Watarrka National Park. A gentler option is available on the canyon floor, where there’s an easy trail, or you can take to the skies in a helicopter for a bird’s-eye view of the magnificent Kings Canyon and its rugged surrounds.
