The Temple Street Night Market

Come sundown, the best place to be in Hong Kong if you’re looking for a bargain is the Temple Street Night Market. The Market is a bustling cultural haven filled with traders, opera singers, fortune tellers and colourful lights. With such a vibrant local atmosphere, it’s little wonder the Market has been used as a backdrop for many memorable films.

You can wander past stalls selling trinkets, tea ware, watches, clothing, jade goods and antiques. Haggling is a way of life here, so be prepared for some friendly bargaining with the traders. After you’ve made your way through the shopping strip, you might want to indulge in an authentic street-style dinner at any of the delicious food vendors.

Board a Star Ferry Cruise

While the two sides of Victoria Harbour are now connected by modern roads and tunnel systems, visitors and locals still climb aboard the nostalgic Star Ferry boats. Having carried passengers between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon for more than one century, a Star Ferry cruise is a historic activity.

The Star Ferry boats offer unique sightseeing voyages along Hong Kong’s coastline and harbour. For a special experience, you can catch a ride just before 8pm – the boats stop for a few minutes mid-trip, so tourists can take in the show, A Symphony of Lights, which illuminates the city with colourful lights, lasers and fireworks.
