Artisan treasures at Central Market

Central Market is strategically placed in the heart of the city and isn't far from the hotel. Packed with a bustling array of arts, crafts, ornaments, jewellery and clothing shops, it's a great place to find unique gifts and souvenirs.

The Market is divided into three separate zones based on the main ethnic groups of Malaysia: Malay, Chinese and Indian. Each group represents their culture with the arts, crafts and produce available for sale. Central Market also holds a few surprises such as The Annexe, a highly regarded art gallery that features the annual Arts for Grabs bazaar where you can pick up quality works of art at reasonable prices.

Following the Green Dragon

From the hotel, cross Jalan Pudu to discover Jalan Petaling, otherwise known as 'Chinatown'. Large traditional Chinese arches sit at either end of the street, with a green roof connecting them and running the entire length of the walkway. Dubbed the ‘Green Dragon’, this street is a pedestrian-only zone, allowing for leisurely shopping and exploration.

Take your time to enjoy a side trip to one of the area’s more quaint Taoist temples, Guan Di Temple. It is here that the legendary Guan Dao (Chinese pole weapon) is found, which is said to possess special powers. Some believers think it will protect the person able to lift it and change their luck for the better.
