Shopping and sightseeing
A short walk from your hotel on Jalan Raja Chulan you’ll find The Weld Shopping Centre. Dating back to the 1960s, it was the first purpose-built supermarket in the city centre. These days the recently refurbished complex offers a lot more than produce, with a large selection of retail outlets, beauty therapists, home décor stores and restaurants to choose from.
Just 5-minutes’ walk from The Weld is the highest point in the city that is open to the public, Menara Kuala Lumpur. Essentially a communications centre, KL Tower (as it’s also known) houses an observatory and a revolving restaurant, which offers spectacular panoramas of Kuala Lumpur and a unique view of the city’s iconic landmark, the Petronas Towers.
Paint the town red
When the sun goes down, put on your glad rags and head over to Jalan P Ramlee, a short walk from your hotel. One of the liveliest neighbourhoods in the area, this street is home to some of the hottest nightspots in town and is popular with both locals and visitors. All the bars on the street are licensed until 3am, and cater to a variety of clientele.
Luna Bar on Level 34 of Menara PanGlobal offers a chic rooftop setting complete with cocktails, an extensive wine list, and amazing views across the city. If you’re after dinner as well as drinks, treat yourself to a French dining experience at Bistro de Paris, which offers a set menu of traditional French cuisine
