Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
This magnificent hotel nestles the shores of Lake Louise and stands amid breathtaking surrounds of emerald green water and craggy peaks sprinkled in snow. Understated elegance blends with luxe finishes in the beautiful rooms and suites, and guests can bask in the sheer beauty of Victoria Glacier vistas framed in lake-view rooms
The magic of winter
Lake Louise is tucked away in the picturesque confines of Banff National Park, surrounded by white-capped mountains. During winter it becomes a unique winter wonderland with rustic buildings and a feeling of being separated from the world.
It’s fun to get out on the snow with a bit of skiing or snowboarding, but you don’t want to be cold and wet inside, so make sure you pick a hotel with the right facilities. The Fairmont Chateu features a heated indoor pool to keep you warm, the Lake Louise Inn features an ice skating rink that’s only available during winter, and the Post Hotel boasts a steam room.
Lake Louise doesn’t lose its charm once the snow melts away. On the contrary, the warmer months open up a whole new side of the area and a vast array of opportunities. The chairlifts are still running, but instead of wearing skis, you only need to remember your camera to capture the stunning views.
Horseback riding is a great way to explore the countryside and canoes provide a relaxing day out on the lake. With the weather so warm, it’s good to stay near the cool water. The Paradise Lodge & Bungalows houses you in rustic log cabins that are only a short stroll from the water’s edge.
Luxuries only found in the snow
Canada often hosts seriously cold winters that keep most people inside. The ones that step out usually do so because they have to or because they’re heading to the slopes to shred some powder. When you stay at Lake Louise, you need only step outside for the latter, because almost all of the hotels have enough facilities to keep you entertained inside.
You can enjoy a romantic meal at an award-winning restaurant or kick back in a cigar room at the Post Hotel. The fireplace in your room at the Paradise Lodge & Bungalow and the Lake Louise Inn is a great spot to curl up under a rug with that special someone.
