With 4,200 skiable acres, Lake Louise is the largest ski area in North America. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or want to tackle an expert run, this is the place. Children and novices will love the gentle slopes to perfect their technique, while chutes, glades and gullies await more seasoned skiers. The longest run is eight kilometres and there are nine ski lifts.

Cross-country skiing through pristine wilderness is sure to be unforgettable. Lake Louise is considered Canada’s cross-country skiing capital – there are 70 kilometres of groomed trails. There are also private and group lessons offered at the Snow School.

Enjoy the Mountain Heritage Program

The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise has every right to be proud of its Mountain Heritage Program. Accredited naturalists can take you on half or full-day hiking or canoeing tours and teach you along the way about the area’s wildlife and history. The experiences are tailored to your interests and fitness levels.

On the Voyageur Canoe Experience, you’ll paddle the pristine aquamarine waters of Lake Louise in a cedar strip-and-canvas canoe. You’ll be regaled with stories of the area’s earliest dwellers and explorers. Hikes can be as challenging as you want them to be. One of the most popular is a seven-kilometre hike in Banff National Park. This rewards adventurers with fantastic views and a stop at the lovely Tea House along the way.
