Choose your style of Legian hotel

Legian has some super top-end luxury beachfront hotels, such as The Stones Hotel, part of the Marriott’s Autograph Collection, located beachside at Jalan Raya Pantai Kuta, which offers the full Legian beach resort experience. For something a little more intimate, Legian is also dotted with private villas, which can also be just as deluxe. For a more modest style of accommodation, seek out some of Legian’s popular 3-star hotels or budget hotels, which can still be found within walking distance of the beach.

Where to stay in Legian

If you’re looking at a map, Legian hotels west of Jalan Raya Legian won’t be less than a 10-minute walk to the beach, so that gives you an idea of how close much of the Legian accommodation really is to the water. There’s a lot of choice in this pocket, and it’s not all 5-star. Once you head east beyond the canal which runs north to south through Legian, alongside Janal Sri Rama, you can still find 4-star accommodation although any hotels past here will be about 1 kilometre from the beach.

Best time to stay in Legian

Just like the rest of Bali, Legian’s high season is during the months of July and August as well as peak holiday periods such as Easter and Christmas. The best time to visit Legian is during the shoulder-season months of April, May and June, as well as September. The weather is still quite dry during this time and even though Legian has a warm and tropical climate all year round there’s less humidity in the air.

Getting around Legian

A snug fit between the villages of Seminyak to the north and Kuta to the south, Legian is very easily a pedestrian’s delight if you’re just wandering from your hotel to a local restaurant or the beach, and back again. If you’d like to explore more of Legian, taking a taxi is probably the easiest option. Your hotel concierge might be able to arrange this for you, or you could call Blue Bird Taxi, which is the most reputable company on the island. Like Seminyak, Legian has a network of smaller alleyways, or ‘gangs’, which are quite difficult to access by car, which is another reason why so many locals and tourists alike prefer just to walk.
