You won’t go hungry at Wild River Country – venues serving drinks, snacks and meals are all around the park.
Little Rock Central High School
Although it remains an operational high school, this National Historic Site is open to visitors who want to learn more about the desegregation action that occurred here in 1957. The Little Rock Central High School played an important role in ending the divide between races at American public schools.
Nine African-American students persisted in attending the formerly all-white school and influenced the landmark US Supreme Court ruling that separating students by skin colour was unconstitutional. This major victory in the civil rights movement can be explored further with a guided tour of the school and the exhibition housed inside.
