Doctor Who's TARDIS

For fans of the BBC's cult television program, Doctor Who, coming face-to-face with one of the show's most-famous props is a dream come true. Often you'd have to pay for a tour or visit a special museum for this sort of opportunity, but perched on the street outside Earls Court tube station is a life-sized (at least from the outside) TARDIS.

A former functioning British Police Box has been updated and converted to closely resemble the iconic time and space travelling device. As this unique attraction is free to the public, you may have to join a queue for your prized photo opportunity, giving you time to chat to the other ‘Whovians’ keen to take a look.

Kensington High Street’s stylish shopping

If the hustle and bustle of Oxford and Regent Streets isn’t your thing, take a short stroll from the hotel to the renowned Kensington High Street. This upmarket strip is loved by locals and is home to big-name brands and cute and quirky home-grown labels.

The street is also lined with restaurants, cafes and bars, giving ample opportunities for pit stops to rest weary legs. After exhausting yourself with retail therapy, pop into the giant Wholefoods store, where you can wander aisles packed with boutique organic and gourmet goodies.
